Research Data and Analytics

Research Data & Analytics gives University leadership reliable data on sponsored research — proposals, awards, and expenditures — to support decision-making for their unit.

PIs seeking data or information on their own proposals and awards should refer to SAMtool at MySlice, contact Office of Sponsored Programs at ospoff@syr.edu or contact Post Award Research Services at vprpostaward@syr.edu

What We Provide

Unit-Level Dashboards

Interactive dashboards and visualizations covering proposal, award, and expenditure activity by school/college/department, built using DataInsights and updated daily. Access is limited to those with unit leadership.

Guidance and Training

Guidance and training on interpreting sponsored research data — including personalized training sessions, self-guided video tutorials, and written documentation for dashboards.

Compliance, External Reporting, and Proposals

Sponsored research data for recurring external reporting requirements (NSF HERD Survey, U.S. News & World Report, etc.) or grant proposals, increasing accuracy and reducing duplicated effort across departments.

General Data Consultation

For sponsored research data needs beyond what's available in standard dashboards, we provide one-time reports and customized DataInsights dashboards, depending on need and availability.
